Chaplaincy Website
Dear friends,
12 years ago, our son, Mark developed the current Chaplaincy website and has hosted it for us ever since. I am truly grateful to him.
Until Fr. Steve retired I tried to support him in the role of webmaster, and have done the job since his retirement. We are so blessed that Fr. Steve still provides our intercessions each week. And he will continue to do so. Thank you.
But the time has come for me to hand on the hosting and administration of the site. From October 1st, Gemma Preece will be webmaster. She can be contacted on the following email address – info@costablanca-anglicanchaplaincy.org.
Do please feed Gemma with information for the Events page, with news and with other input. It is time for a new set of eyes to take us forward. Expect to see changes to the appearance and the content. I have enjoyed the role and look forward to seeing the website and Chaplaincy communications develop, under Fr. Jim’s lead.
Blessings to all (am I authorised to say that 😉?)

Harvest Thanksgiving
Our clergy will be presiding at Harvest Thanksgiving services at the regular times in all our churches on Sunday. And our midweek services in Jávea (on Wednesdays) and in Alfaz del Pi (on Thursdays) continue as normal. Full details of these weekly communion services can be found at this page – https://costablanca-anglicanchaplaincy.org/churches-and-services-3/.
Fr. Rodney and Fr. Robin will be broadcasting their now regular communion service on Fr. Rodney’s Facebook page. It will be “streamed” live on Saturday at 7pm Spanish time (6pm BST) and then available all day on Sunday, to join at your leisure. As always both the live broadcast and the recording will be available on the following page – https://www.facebook.com/rodney.middleton.940. If you are not ready or not able to join us in one of our churches this is a wonderful way to share our worship.
The Chaplaincy is entirely self-funded. If you wish to make a donation to support the work, you can pay directly into the Chaplaincy bank account in Spain (please show your name and the congregation that you support, if appropriate). The full IBAN number is –

The Funeral of Martin Bentley – Live Links and Donations
Martin’s funeral will be held on Friday October 7th at 2.30 pm UK time. This will be preceded by a private cremation at 11.30 UK time. Both services will be live streamed. We understand that both can be replayed later.
The family request no flowers. They will be limited to family only. However, Carole and her family have chosen 2 very worthy charities for donations. The details of both charities and of the live stream links for both services are contained in the attached document.
As a reminder, there will be a memorial mass at 15.30 that day, in the Ermita in Javea (on the Jesus Pobre Road). This is therefore at the same time at the same time as the afternoon funeral.

Thank you to Elaine for the text and the photos.
Costa Blanca Quiz League Winter 2022/23
Costa Blanca Quiz League Winter 2022/23
Introduction
It is planned to hold three fund raising quiz events in November, December and January, run by the FAC for the chaplaincy. The quiz is open to any team and they do not have to be from our places of worship. So friends and others can be invited to take part. 1. Aim
The aim is to bring people together, have some fun and maybe make a little money for the Chaplaincy on theside.
2. Formata. Teams of four. Teams with more than four players can enter but will lose one point for each player over the four allowed on each category.b. The quiz will be divided into categories i.e. general knowledge, sport and history etc.c. There will be a prize for each category as well as a prize for the overall winner.d. Refreshments will be available to purchase on site.e. Cost per team is ten euros for each quiz. For each extra team member add two euros fifty per person.f. No phones or other devices, other than the little grey cells are allowed.3. Location
The first event would be held at La Merced Campsite Calpe after which it is hoped that the other places of worship will host the events so that the quiz can be spread evenly over the Chaplaincy.
- Church Stall
It is hoped to have a church stall at each event selling books, preserves, calendars and Christmas cards etc.
- Timings
It is suggested that the quiz is held during daylight hours, i.e. lunch time or early afternoon as some people would not like to travel during darkness. A start time of 1400 hours (2pm) is possible.
- Dates
24th November 2022. Location La Merced Campsite Calpe
15th December 2022. Location TBC
19th January 2022. Location TBC

A further requiem for her late majesty
By kind permission of the Parish Priest of Orba, Fr Rodney will celebrate a Service of Thansgiving and Requiem for her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in Orba Parish Church on MONDAY SEPTEMBER 19th. at 10am.
The Service will last less than an hour and so there will be ample time for those attending to get home to watch Her Majesty’s funeral Service on British TV. All are very welcome.
Our services
There are two services in the Chaplaincy dedicated to her late majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. The first is on Sunday at 12noon at our Calpe church, as part of the regular mass of our Roman Catholic hosts. Fr. Rodney will join the parish priest, don Juan Carlos. The Alcaldesa (Calpe mayor) and the British Assistant Consul will be in attendance.
The second will be led by Fr. Paul at the Forum in Alfaz del Pi at 9am on Monday, timed to allow attendees to return in time to view the funeral service as it is broadcast live.
