An exciting week ahead

On Friday, at 4pm our diocesan bishop, Bishop Robert will lead a very special service at La Merced Church (our Calpe church). At this service he will “collate” our wonderful senior chaplain, Fr. Marcus as a canon of the Diocese in Europe. This is a really important event in our Chaplaincy and, indeed in the Diocese. After the service we have a buffet fellowship get together at the Gran Sol Hotel (for only €8). Please inform your local warden tomorrow that you will join us.

In all our churches we are committed to abide by the regulations; sanitation, social distancing, mask wearing and personal sanitising on entry. We continue to keep a record of attendees for track and trace purposes if needed.  Our churches are all operating services at their normal times, with each celebrating the Eucharist. In Javea, we return to our normal Sunday services. Our weekly service in Alfaz continues on Thursdays.

Do join us at one of our services if you can.

Full details of these weekly communion services can be found at this page – https://costablanca-anglicanchaplaincy.org/churches-and-services-3/.

Fr. Rodney and Fr. Robin will be broadcasting their now regular communion service on Fr. Rodney’s Facebook page. It will be “streamed” live on Sunday at 10am Spanish time (9am BST) and then available all day on Sunday, to join at your leisure. As always both the live broadcast and the recording will be available on the following page – https://www.facebook.com/rodney.middleton.940. If you are not ready or not able to join us in one of our churches this is a wonderful way to share our worship.

And remember to tune in to Fr. Marcus for his live Sunday radio programme, between 6pm and 8pm, Spanish time, on Pure Gold FM. You can listen on the radio on 94.1 FM. Or on your computer, tablet or phone join through the listen live button on https://puregold.fm/.

If you wish to make a donation to support our Chaplaincy, which is entirely self-funded, you can pay directly into the Chaplaincy bank account in Spain (please show your name and the congregation that you support, if appropriate). The full IBAN number is –

“Collation” of Fr. Marcus.

Bishop Robert, our diocesan bishop, will install our own Fr Marcus to the honorary position of Canon.

Fr Marcus wIll be “collated” in a service at La Merced church in Calpe, at 4pm on Friday 1st October.

This is a wonderful honour to this parish and to Fr Marcus, and recognises his energy and focus in leading the Chaplaincy, and in reaching out to the broader community.

While he continues his role among us he will be “installed” to the seat of St. James in the Diocesan Cathedral in Gibraltar. Bearing in mind the pilgrimages that he and Sandra have undertaken in Spain on the ways of St James this is very appropriate.

Calpe church has plenty of space to accommodate congregations from across the parish. Please join us to share in this very special event.

Followed by a social buffet at Restaurante Gran Sol (€8 a head). Please book in with your local warden.

Worship and Praise

Fr. Marcus has returned from a holiday, blessed with family time and hugs. Remember to tune in for his live Sunday radio programme, between 6pm and 8pm, Spanish time, on Pure Gold FM. A Prayer for our Chaplaincy

Heavenly Father,
We pray for our Chaplaincy of the Holy Spirit, Costa Blanca. We pray for solutions to the financial problems we face. May our leaders take wise decisions. May we all work together to ensure that our worship and ministry continues so that others may have the opportunity of knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
Lord in your mercy
Hear our prayer

Thank you to our reader, Stephen Carden
