Whether you are already a resident or a second home owner, a holiday-maker or are about to move to the Costa Blanca, we will be delighted to welcome you at any of our eight churches.

We are served by the full-time Chaplains and a licensed Reader, ably assisted by a number of retired priests who spend part of the year here. This gives both clergy and people a degree of variety not normally experienced in the UK . We have active committees of lay people in each church, as well as a strong co-ordinating Chaplaincy Council.

Whilst we are an Anglican chaplaincy, rooted in the tradition of the Church of England, there are many who worship with us, regularly or occasionally, who have come from different traditions. All are welcome.

If you would like to become more involved, there are plenty of opportunities, both within our worship and in our social life. These events give us all the chance to meet new friends, and to get to know each other better.

Making these connections is invaluable to those embarking on the daunting experience of moving abroad; and you will find us a useful source of information about reliable plumbers, good restaurants, other community groups, and the niceties of Spanish taxation! Above all, we want you to feel at home.

albirAbout the church:

The move from Benidorm from the start of 2013 was prompted by the needs of the existing members as well as the need for new members.

We are a small but friendly crowd, and a combination of all-year residents and seasonal, regular visitors, throughout the year, but mainly in the winter months. All too rarely there are appearances  from those on short holidays. With Albir and Alfaz del Pi amomg the nearby towns with significant British communities, we have decided to move the church nearer to the people.

On Sundays we meet at 09.45 in Albir, courtesy of the Norwegian Lutherans. This is a light and airy church centre, with easy parking outside, and no steps to manage for access.

Address :

Calle de Marte, 8

About the church:

The Forum, as it is known, is an international residential community in Alfaz del Pi. Amongst its residents are a number of existing members of our Albir (formerly Benidorm) church. We have held carol services and other events here in recent years; and we are delighted to have been offered a room to continue our weekly weekday worship.

This will be at 11.00 on Thursdays, and is a celebration of the Eucharist (Holy Communion) in a simple spoken service. If, in due course, those attending wish to sing, that may well be possible! We are hoping particularly for participation from those who are resident on-site, but others will be more than welcome.

About the church:

The Ermita in Las Rotas is a small intimate Chapel with a beautiful courtyard enclosed by cloisters.

Music plays an important part of our worship, especially the singing before the service which is led by a small and enthusiastic singing group.  Coffee and refreshments are served after the service and this provides an opportunity to chat with friends and newcomers.

A lift can always be arranged for those who have difficulty getting to church.  We have a Bible study group who meet every week and anyone wishing to join them would be made most welcome.

Fund raising to support our Chaplaincy plays an important part in our annual activities and these social events are always well supported.

El Campello

elcampellophotoAbout the church:

We meet in a chapel in the grounds of Los Salesianos at 12.00 noon every Sunday. Our friendly congregation comes from the area round Alicante, and after the service there is always an opportunity to take a picnic to the beach or to have it in the shady grounds of the church.

Whilst we have a committed local congregation, we always look forward to meeting people on holiday in the area .  After the service there is a time for fellowship and refreshments.

We have a number of social events during the course of the year. Some of these are for fund raising and some just for social time together.

Transport links are good with the tram running along the coast, and we are just a short walk from the Salesdianos station.. Please come and join us, whether you are resident here or on a sunshine break.

Los Salesianos is just off the sea-front at the northern end of Playa Muchavista. It is accessible from the sea-front both from Campello centre, and from San Juan, as well as from the N332 and AP7 & A70 motorways.

From the AP7 motorway:

Southbound, this divides just before Campello and exit 67. The left-hand lanes lead around the back of Alicante: the right-hand lanes (with the airport/aeroplane logo) is the way to follow, through the final toll-booths. Follow signs (next exit) to El Campello and San Juan (left lane where the road divides) which will bring you on to the N332 northbound towards Valencia.

At the roundabout take the first exit, signposted to La Font (right) just before the lights.

Then see below ´Continuing Instructions from AP7 & N332 routes´

Approaching southbound on the N332:

Pass through upper Campello on the main road, until you come to the second main junction at traffic lights, with the sign to La Font.
Turn left across main road using the turning lane.

Approaching northbound (from San Juan & Alicante) on the N332, you will pass under the bridge leading to the motorway and Jijona. Move into the right-hand lane ready to turn right at the sign to La Font.

Then see below ´Continuing Instructions from AP7 & N332 routes´- now.

Continuing Intructions from AP7 & N332 routes:

Continue down this residential street until the T junction at the end.
Turn left, and continue to the end where the road ahead opens up into fields.
Cross the junction, continuing straight ahead.

Continue through open ground. This is a one-way road, but you may encounter traffic or bicycles approaching.
At the end, you will see on your left the gates of Los Salesianos.
Turn in, go round central roundabout to your left, and park where you can.

If approaching along the sea-front from Campello centre:

Continue south around the headland and over the bridge until you approach the start of Playa Muchavista, with apartment blocks on your right.
At a set of traffic lights you will see on your right a turning with a No Entry sign (access for Residents & the School only) and the railway bridge.
Turn right here, and continue straight ahead at the top of the hill, where you will see the gates of Los Salesianos.

If approaching along the sea-front from San Juan:

Continue along Playa Muchavista, and through the one-way system where the railway is elevated to your left.
Straight on at the traffic lights, and look for No Entry turning to your left (see previous paragraph) and turn left here.

From the Car Park:

Walk back to the main church to the right and ahead of the entrance gates.
Go through the green gates to the right of the church entrance, or if these are locked, walk through Reception, and walk to the far end of the cloisters.
Turn right at the end, and the door ahead (in the far right-hand corner of the cloisters) leads to the chapel where we meet for worship.

To exit in all directions:

Leave by main gates, and go down the hill ahead to the sea-front.

To return to Campello: Turn left at traffic lights

To return to San Juan: N332 and AP7 turn right, and continue to the next set of lights where you must turn right again.
Drive up the hill, and stay in the right-hand lane.
At the T junction, turn right.
Continue for about 10 metres, until you reach four-way crossroads, and turn left.

Continue until the first turning right, and return to the N332 junction and traffic-lights.

gandiaphotoAbout the church:

Like most churches, we try to reach out to the local community. In our case, we give particular support to the Franciscan residence in Palma de Gandia for homeless and chronically ill men. We also collect clothing for CáritasInterparochial, a charity attached to the local Roman Catholic churches, which helps poor and homeless families in Gandia.

We have trained hospital visitors who are happy to visit – by prior request – English-speaking patients in the large State hospital in Gandia. We also have a house group which meets regularly.

If you would like to know more about the church or any of our activities, just ask when you visit us; or make contact as below.

javeaphotoAbout the church:

The Ermita del Popul, between Javea Old Town and the village of Jesus Pobre, was built in the 14th century, but fell into disrepair at the time of the Spanish Civil War. Restoration took place in the early 1970s when expats from the UK began to settle here, and were keen to find a church building in which to hold Anglican services. This became the first Anglican congregation to be established on the Costa Blanca in 1972.

In the restoration extensions, the vestry, side chapel and toilet facilities were added, as well as water and electricity, but the original style was not changed and some of the ancient beams still support the roof.

After Sunday services coffee is served and visitors are encouraged to join us. Once a month there is a Wall Market with the opportunity to buy home-made cakes, preserves and novelties outside the church.

Throughout the year there are a variety of social events including coffee mornings, Bridge lunches, illustrated talks with a light lunch, wine tastings, a garden tea party, a summer fiesta, a cocktail evening and a pre-Christmas morning with sherry and mince pies. During the cooler weather, our own Walking Group ‘The Strollers’ have an organised easy walk followed by lunch at a local restaurant.  There is also a monthly Fellowship Lunch at the Javea Golf Club.

The Roman Catholic Church use the Ermita after us during July & August; and notably on the 1st Sunday after 8th September when there is no Church of England service.

Services: Every Sunday at 9.45am  (9.30am July until September 11th inclusive ). Also Wednesday at 10.30am.
