Appointment of a new priest

The following announcement was made at today’s services.

It is with great delight that we can announce the appointment of out new House for Duty priest.

Fr Rodney Middleton, currently Vicar of St James the Great, Haydock in the Diocese of Liverpool, will join us soon after Easter this year.
He comes very highly recommended, and with a variety of skills and interests which will, without doubt have a very positive impact on our Chaplaincy.

In Particular he is very experienced in the Healing Ministry, he speaks Spanish, and he knows Spain very well.

It was our unanimous decision to offer him the post, and we are all really excited about him coming to join us.

I received the following yesterday, which just gives a flavour of what he is like:

Greetings from a very frosty Haydock! I am looking forward very much to joining you in the work and worship of the Chaplaincy of the Holy Spirit, Costa Blanca. It will involve a great emotional re-adjustment after almost 22 years in a parish where I have been very happy. But I have never been more sure that God’s hand has been holding me throughout the whole process of appointment over the past months, and I truly feel that this is ‘the right thing at the right time’. I do hope you will come to feel the same! Meanwhile, please remember me in your prayers in the coming months, as I will certainly be remembering you and the whole Chaplaincy Team.
With my very best wishes and prayers for an exciting future together.
Fr Rodney (Middleton)

p.s. One of my present parishioners was in Benidorm for Christmas and has told me there were people on the beach on Christmas Day. That sounds good to me!

As he suggests, please remember him, and his present parish in your prayers.

Fr Marcus, Fr Ray, Fr Jim, Stephen Carden and Andrew Johnson.
